Report on I. "SEC- tember", IBSSA International Special Security Training Course (2002 October 2)

The IBSSA Headquarters organised an International Special Security Training Course between 25 - 29 September 2002 in Budapest / Hungary with the support of the Hungarian Police Department. Besides numerous IBSSA leaders and chief instructors from all over the world, who were present at this professional event, many qualified bodyguards, Master Teachers and even Instructors of the Special Unit of the Hungarian Army, and police officers participated at the training from Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, England and Romania.

The purpose of this special course was to bring the IBSSA members together from all around the world and also non-members - who are interested in taking part such courses - in order to change ideas, knowledge, to solve simulated "real world" self-defence scenarios so to test the skill and ability of the individual, to improve physical skills, to further develop shooting skills and to extend professional experience.

The training included the following fields

  • Firearms basics and safe use / practical part
  • Three days antiterrorist training in Special Police Forces' Center
  • VIP tactics / theoretical & practical part
  • Technique and technology of security
  • Krav Maga / Self defence
  • VIP Protection with practical shooting in the Hungarian Ministry of Interior - International Training Centre
  • ASP (Viper) training

On the 25th September (Wednesday) at 19.00 the Official Opening Ceremony of the Training Course took place at Hotel Zugló. Dr. János LÁZÁR police brigade-general - Deputy Director of the Criminal Department of the National Police Office was also present at the ceremony. Prof. George POPPER - Executive President of IBSSA welcomed all participants and introduced the program shortly.

From 26th September (Thursday) till 28th September (Saturday) the students took part in the following daily programs

After the early getting up and having breakfast at 7.00 AM the participants were already on their way to the Shooting ground of the National Police Department, to the FBI Academy and to the dojo. There were 5 groups of people, who had the following lessons in rotation

  • Shooting with Mr. Roberto GOBBI and Mr. Ottó SIMONYI
  • Driving with Mr. Roberto De RONZI and Mr. Miklós TOLDI
  • VIP protection in practice, escorting with Mr. Károly SIMON
  • Self-defense with Prof. Giacomo S. BERTOLETTI and Dr. Rony KLUGER
  • VIP tactics at the International Training Centre of the Hungarian Ministry of Interior with its Instructors and experts

The trainings were held from 8.00 until 12.00 and from 14.00 till 18.00 after having lunch at the shooting ground. After the trainings on Thursday evening the students had a useful lecture on training equipment and systems with Ministry of Defence - Electronics, Logistics and Property Management Co. - Electronics Directorate: Dr. Mária SZILVÁSI NAGY - Director, Mr. Tamás SZABÓ and Mr. István HAJNAL. The other day the participants had an interesting lecture on new drugs and drug prevention with Mr. József KREINER.

The Open Day with the Final Demonstration of the students took place on the 28th September (Saturday). Many IBSSA members from Austria, Australia, Romania, Latvia and Hungary arrived to the Shooting Ground of the Hungarian Police Department in order to see the Demonstrations and to take part in the Sayonara Party at 21.00 in Kiskunfélegyháza. After the demonstrations, as the final closing of the training course every student received an IBSSA Certificate of Participation at Kiskunfélegyháza. Mr. Tamás KUTALIK - Regional Representative of IBSSA for Hungary and Instructor invited all participants, instructors, leaders and organizers to his restaurant, where the Conferring Ceremony and Sayonara Party took place.

The "Italian Team" Prof. Giacomo Spartaco BERTOLETTI, Mr. Roberto DE RONZI and Mr. Roberto GOBBI gave a nice present to Ms. Erika MACSÁRI (Secretary of the President) for the successful and professional organisation of this event.

RTL Klub reported about the training course on the 1st October at 20.00 during the main program. The Hungarian Duna Television and other representatives of the media will report about the training and the demonstrations soon. An IBSSA official video record was also taken.
